About me

Hi, I'm Hannah Forster!

Thank you for visiting my page, I’m so glad you found my site!

I’m a 15 year old Grade 9 student living in a small city named Humboldt, which is located in the heart of the prairies in central Saskatchewan, Canada.

My parents are veterinarians by profession and entrepreneurs by heart. My mom has exposed me to business and all sorts of adventures from a very young age and supported my ventures right from my very first lemonade stand.

I’ve always been artistic, crafty, creative, and LOVE all things messy, colourful, and sugary!

My Interests

My interests include sewing, crocheting, baking, music and band (piano and trumpet), drama club, basketball, water sports (swimming, wakeboarding and surfing), as well as animals—large & small. In addition to our sweet family dog Lewy, I’ve been raising layer hens from chicks since 2020 and selling farm fresh eggs to a group of regular customers.

I started sewing when I was 8, taking a few classes locally and lessons from a family friend. My first project was a pair of fuzzy pj bottoms followed by a summer outfit and a fun and colourful dress and has grown from there.

One of a Kind

Baking with my Little Brother

The Beginning of an Idea

My business, One of a Kind,  grew from a tooth fairy pillow project I had created for my little brother in 2020. He was completely thrilled to have a place to safely store teeth he lost and get money from the tooth fairy tucked safely into a little pocket on the front of the pillow.

My mom encouraged me to promote my tooth fairy pillow creations through social media and quickly received strong interest and orders. I then branched out by placing my handmade products in local gift stores in rural Saskatchewan and sales continued to grow.

Pursuing My Inner-Entrepreneur

In 2022 I entered the Get A Bigger Wagon Young Entrepreneur Business Competition and won in my age category, along with receiving the exciting prize money. Through this experience I realized I love making people happy, while also making money. I thought, why not turn my idea into a real business?

Investing in My Next Steps

The prize money allowed me to reinvest in One of a Kind by having an e-commerce website created and attending my very first Tradeshow at The Spring Homesick Market 2023. If all goes according to plan my business may provide me the flexibility to run my own show, on my own terms with my own hours this upcoming sumner instead of getting another traditional ‘summer job’.

Each unique project is carefully designed and handcrafted with attention to detail - there are no two projects completely alike, making all of my creations truly ‘One of a Kind’

What started out for me as a creative outlet and hobby has now grown into a little business I am very proud of. I love having the opportunity to infuse my own unique style and design into everything I create. I am so thankful for your interest in my business and truly appreciate all of the incredible support I have received so far.
