About Our Farm

Our small family owned and operated chicken farm began in 2020 when we started raising layer hens and selling the eggs to customers in Humboldt and the surrounding areas. This endeavor led to exploring the opportunity to raise broiler chickens with the goal of providing our customers with high quality, farm fresh chicken.

Our first flock of 100 Cornish Cross chickens arrived in May of 2024 and were ready for customers mid-June 2024. We have just received our second flock and will be raising 200 Cornish Cross chickens, offering both 5-8lb roasters and 3-5lb fryers. Our chickens are raised free range with the highest level of attention to the poultries well-being as possible.

Meet Your Farmer

My name is Tristan Forster, I am 14 years old and attend high school at Humboldt Collegiate Institute. I have been helping with the family chicken farm and acreage since it began in 2020, learning the ropes from my sister and dad who started out with layer hens.

Having watched the success my sister achieved with her layer hens and other entrepreneurial business, I wanted to start my own business raising chickens for meat. With the help of my dad, we put together a business plan and deemed it feasible to raise broiler chickens in our barn at our acreage and so in 2024 we received our first chickens and Prairie Sky Meadows Farm Fresh Poultry began.

In addition to raising chickens, I work part time cutting grass at a neighbor’s development using zero turn riding mowers and a tractor with a mower attachment. Previous summers I have worked planting trees, mowing grass, and helping out with the family food truck.

For fun during the summer, I love to play basketball and go fishing and, in the winter, to go skiing at Wapiti and Assessippi, as well as ice fishing. I enjoy various sports including soccer, volleyball, football, badminton, and speed swimming. I was on the Humbolt Hurricane soccer team for 4 years, competing in provincials and was a part of the St. Augustine School’s basketball team. I have competed in districts for the 3000 and 1500 meter races with St. Augustine’s Athletics team, was on the Student Leadership Team, and was the head of the sports committee. I have also completed the hunter’s safety program.

You may be wondering what I hope to do with the money I earn raising and selling chickens? Well, ever since I found out about the sport of dirt biking, I have been obsessed. My goal is to be successful enough in my business to be able to purchase both the equipment and bike and possibly some hunting equipment as well.
